The Children’s Ministry program at St. Mark the Evangelist is designed to support all families with children from age 3 through 5th grade in passing on our Catholic faith and in preparing their children to celebrate the Sacraments of Eucharist and Reconciliation for the first time. Children’s Ministry provides Faith Formation for PreSchool, Elementary and Special Needs children within our parish community.

Families are asked

  • to register their children for Faith Formation,
  • to celebrate the Sunday Eucharist as a family,
  • to participate in our Parish Events,
  • to share their faith at home.

It is through a blending of classroom, family and whole community activities that the richness of our Catholic faith is shared and passed on to our children.

Sacramental Preparation

Participation in Elementary Faith Formation allows children to begin the initial preparation for the Sacraments of First Eucharist and First Reconciliation. Preparation for each of these sacraments is a 2-year process and it is during the 2nd year that the child begins the specific Sacrament training and celebrates First Eucharist or First Reconciliation.

Is my child ready to celebrate the Sacraments?  Click Here for Parent Reflection page.

First Reconciliation preparation begins in September for children in Grades 2-4 who have completed one (1) year of initial Fatih Formation.

First Eucharist Preparation begins in January for children in Grades 2-4 who have completed 1 year of initial Faith Formation.

Special Needs Faith Formation

Special Needs Faith Formation offers families with Special Needs children from ages 4-12 the opportunity for faith development in a safe, nurturing environment. In a developmentally appropriate way, the children are invited and encouraged to answer the call of Jesus, to learn about His story and to celebrate the Sacraments. A certified Special Education teacher teaches this program and caring catechists with a loving desire to work with this special community provide support and assistance. We strive to provide an inclusive environment, so it is not necessary for the child to have any particular special needs to participate.

To provide the needed consistency for our Special Needs children, this program meets every Sunday during the 10 am Mass beginning 1st Sunday of September thru Last Sunday of June.
