Young parish members can be involved in assisting at Mass. Altar Servers help before, during and after the liturgy. This is a wonderful opportunity for young people to be involved in the parish and become an integral part of the celebration of liturgy.

The importance of the liturgical environment is vital to good liturgy. This team plans and prepares the sacred space for the different liturgical seasons. The team is a group of gifted and talented people who are willing to understand the importance of environment and how it calls us to prayer. We do this as we move through the liturgical seasons of the year with art and environment that call us to prayer.

Catholic Scripture Study is a bible study that contains Scripture readings, thought provoking questions, small group discussion, incredible speakers and a weekly commentary. The study is doctrinal-based Catholic program that nourishes a deeper love for Christ and His Church. The small group discussions offer an intimate and comfortable setting for fellowship and prayer support.

This year we will study the Prophets and Revelations. We have both morning and evening sessions, every Tuesday starting September 5th. Babysitting is also available.

Registration will be the weekends of August 12th and August 19th after all masses.

Eucharistic Adoration is available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. A beautiful Reservation Chapel is situated off the main sanctuary where the faithful may easily pray in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. Some people choose to sign up for one hour, while others come by to pray at different times.

Eucharistic Ministers present the body and blood of Christ to those who come to Holy Communion at all liturgies. This minister is gracious at serving communion at Mass and compassionate when bringing communion to the sick and homebound.

The Liturgy Office will provide assistance to you and your family in planning and preparing for the Funeral Liturgy of a loved one. We will work with you in helping choose appropriate scripture reading and music to plan a special service.

Ministers to the Sick and Grieving are trained people who will walk with the family during an illness. These ministers will help the family plan and prepare the funeral and will be available to help the grieving family as long as they are needed through listening and prayer.

The task of the parish Liturgy Committee involves vision, overall yearly planning, honest evaluation, and liturgical education. A requirement for being on this team is a genuine love and commitment to Liturgy. Good Liturgy is accomplished by the work of many people and by our baptism we are called to serve God and each other.This team meets on the second and third Mondays of the month. All are welcome.

• Unable to travel to a senior nutrition center for lunch
• Unable to prepare a meal for themselves or have anyone in the home to prepare a meal for them.

The goal of CSS is to provide a well balanced, hot meal to the homebound elderly of Bexar County.  There is no charge for eligible clients; however, a small donation is suggested.  All donations go back into the program to provide more meals for more seniors.  Nutritious food is essential to everyone; therefore income is not a criterion for service.

The Meals on Wheels program welcomes volunteer drivers for the St. Mark route.  Substitute drivers may volunteer to help Meals on Wheels deliver a hot lunch and a warm smile to our homebound elderly.  Meal delivery normally takes about an hour, between the hours of 10:30 am and 1:30 pm Monday through Friday.

Volunteers should call Lola at 210-735-5115 or emal at lolad.css@sbcglobal.net  Volunteers must have a current drivers license and proof of automobile insurance.  Orientation takes place every Wednesday from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at Christian Senior Services, 4306 NW Loop 410, San Antonio, 78229.

Potential clients may call in to the Outreach Office of Christian Senior Services (735-5115) to make application for the program. Eucharistic Minister's visit, pray and take the Eucharistic to members of the community who are unable to attend Mass. This minister is gracious and compassionate when bringing communion to the sick and homebound. We serve those homebound, in hospitals and nursing homes in our area. Please call the Liturgy Office if a member of your family or a friend needs communion brought to them. If you would like to volunteer to be a member of this ministry, please contact the Liturgy Office.

The Lector is one who proclaims God's word to the community gathered for liturgy. The spirituality of a Lector should be of regular reading and pondering of God's word in sacred scripture.

Our Lady of Guadalupe is a group of people who gather on the first Tuesday of every month in the Shalom Room. Their main purpose is to give honor and praise to Our Lady of Guadalupe. They celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 12 with Las Mananitas, with a re-enactment of the story and a Fiesta celebration after the Saturday evening Mass.

Participation in EFF allows children to begin the initial preparation for the Sacraments of First Eucharist and First Reconciliation. Preparation for each of these sacraments is a 2-year process and it is during the 2nd year that the child begins the specific Sacrament training and celebrates First Eucharist or First Reconciliation. Care of linens in sanctuary along with priest's vestments.

Linen care ministers are responsible for washing and ironing the altar linens. The linens are picked up during the week. The time required for this ministry is about two hours once every three months.

Ushers offer a warm and friendly greeting to welcome the community as they arrive for mass. They assist with seating, preparation of gifts, and taking up monetary offerings at all masses.
