Caring and Sharing Ministry

One of the many ministries at St. Mark is know as Cariing and Sharing.  The name is very appropriate.  Because of the community it serves, not many of our parishioners are aware of what this ministry is all about until the need arises.  This ministry serves the community of St. Mark by providing a meal for family and friends on the day of a funeral of a deceased member.

This ministry began as a committee of the Altar Cociety when St. Mark was a new parish.  As the parish grew, so did this committee until it was no longer part of the Altar Society.  It has become a parish wide ministry as part of the Grief Ministry Team.

The meals served is usually in the Shalom Room located in the Community Center.  The standard menu consists of sandwiches, potato salad, a vegetable tray, fresh fruit bowl, dessert, coffee and lemonade.  This is a team effort with volunteers who work in the kitchen to prepare the food.  Other volunteers donate some of the food, while still others make a financial contribution that helps with the purchase of the items to make the sandwiches.  Currently our lists of volunteers to donate food are called about once a year, depending on the needs of the Parish.  Those who work in the kitchen are called more often, due to a shorter list.

How Can I help?
