Steps to Take
1) Submit a copy of your child’s birth certificate to the baptism coordinator along with the other required forms linked below.
2) Schedule an interview with both parents through the baptism coordinator.
3) Parents and godparents are to attend a baptism class which are currently scheduled every other month. This preparation is for any parent whose child will be baptized and for the godparents of that child. This two hour session from 10:00 am-12:00 pm is a time to explore how Baptism is a commitment to God and God’s Church, as well as concretely looking at the roles and responsibilities of parents and godparents in raising the child in the Catholic faith. The spiritual hopes and dreams of the parents for the child are identified, the significance of the baptismal promises and symbols are discussed, and the meaning of original sin, the communion of saints and how the child becomes priest, prophet and king in Christ are reflected upon. Please ask the baptism coordinator about the next available class.
